Mauritius Silver Coinage

Mauritius is a small island nation off the coast of East Africa in the Indian Ocean. In the 1930s and 1940s 1 rupee and fractional rupee coins were minted in varying silver fineness.

Rupee coins in denominations of 1 rupee, 1/2 rupee and 1/4 rupee were minted in .916 silver finess from 1934 to 1938. 

In 1946, the 1/4 rupee and 1/2 rupee were mined in .500 silver fineness.
